Vinsol resin, while not common, is used as a binder, especially in blackpowder rockets. It is extracted as a byproduct from pine trees. Solvents include alcohol, and hydrocarbons (acetone, etc.) Vinsol resin can be purchased from chemical distributors and online pyrotechnic supply stores.

make sure its not just hydrocarbons, its only polar solvents--ei. alcohols, acetone, and other polars.

I wanted to propose to collapse the binder and chemicals categories for clearness. All´binders are chemicals and Binders is a somewhat "empty" thing. What do the bosses think? /Admiral

I think the "Binder" section should be removed from the navigation menu, and instead go under the chemical section as s subsection. Here we could make some more subsections, like "oxidizers", "solvents" and "fuels" etc. Example: http://pyroforum.nl/wiki/index.php/Categorie:Chemicali%C3%ABn /Pudi
